Draconia

Draconia, an isolated country to the far north. More military outpost than country, it is home to the dragonborns, a closely knit race of Draconic humanoids.

A deeply religious country, they exist under a Martial Theocracy, their military and church are intertwined under the banner of the silver dragon. They trade little save with Byrha and Jaliker, and even this is out of necessity. Dragonborns have also frequently immigrated to Bryha to be closer to the main continent, as their heritage lies in draconian blood.

Both a utopia and a surveillance state, Draconians exist under the watchful eye of the elder dragons. They are the church, the government, and sometimes, the landscape itself.

Cultural Values

Justice

Justice is swift and absolute in a country where the gods can look into your very mind and see your desires and dreams. Often times sinners die in their sleep, a social condemnation to the deceased, a coward's death.

Isolation

Why would you want to leave when you live in a land free from hardships or crime, where the very gods walk amongst you and maintain peace and harmony? Why would you open your borders to the unknown, violent outsiders who wage wars so often?

Honor

Draconians view themselves as belonging to a class of people "on a shining hill." While this means they view their society as more valuable, this also means they perceive themselves as being held to a higher standard of ethics. They are custodians of the material plane, and gatekeepers of knowledge. It is the responsibility of any draconian to be the most noble and moral entity in any room.

Cultural Notes

Please note: these are only the most notable opinions held within the culture. If a species isn't mentioned here, assume they take the view in the species' description page

Tabaxi

Jaliker is one of Draconia's few allies. They are one of the only countries permitted to trade with Draconia, As such there is the odd merchant or ambassador that has settled down there.

Kobolds

Despite being from Draconia (they make up most of the Misc 2%) Kobolds are intensely hated by Draconians. They are seen as corruptions of draconic intent and servants of evil dragons, and as such are considered pests at best.

All Other Races

Draconia is intensely isolationist. If you are a race other than Dragonborn or tabaxi, you are a rarity. You might be treated as a curiosity or a threat, but always as an outsider.

Adventuring

in a country like Draconia, there are no adventurers. A paladin of one of the dragon gods may have similar tasks, but no draconian would stoop so low as to call themselves an adventurer. Adventurers from Draconia might instead be from one of these orders on a holy mission, or an outsider, preferring to steer away from the rigid hegemony of an utopic dictatorship.

Adventurers who come to Draconia have most likely been hired by outside parties, and must either face the rigid travel sanctions, or sneak in. All looking to do wet work must be careful however, as the dragon lords of draconia are ever watchful and not forgiving. Only the most righteous, or the most furtive, survive their quests.
