Dal Dorum

The northern country of the Dwarves, Dal Dorum's territory covers the entire northern hemisphere of the continent, a feat only made possible by the relative uninhabitibility of this territory.

The dwarves, skilled at digging and unafraid of hard work, have carved out an extensive tunnel system under the continent, connecting many of the mountain ranges to each other. These tunnels are highly defensible, and some are drilled into the side of mountains, the caverns forming the cities these dwarves call home. Forges light these tunnels, turning them balmy and humid in a mixture of melting ice, and fiery heat.

Cultural Values

Community

It is not the strong that survive the snow, it is those who work together.

Reparation

Dal Dorum had historically been a military superpower with many outposts. Much of its culture seeks to pay respects to the countries it wronged, and to move past its own history.

Reciprocity

Do not do to another something that could be returned tenfold. Under the law of Dal Dorum, that is what will be done to you, boon or bane.

Cultural Notes

Please note: these are only the most notable opinions held within the culture. If a species isn't mentioned here, assume they take the view in the species' description page

Giants/Giantkin

Giants are the historical caretakers of the land here. They are well respected, and seen as spiritual and natural advisors.

Dwarves

Dwarves are not native to Dal Dorum, but they have lived here longer than any elf has been on the continent.  Although the country is technically theirs, recent social changes have put an emphasis on respecting what came before.

Winter Court Fey

The war has lead many winter court fey encampments to be placed in Dal Dorum. Opinions vary between Dwarves and Giants. Giants are more hostile than dwarves, but none would share a table with a winter court fey.

Adventuring

There are two routes to go adventuring in Dal Dorum, however much overlap is found. Although most society in Dal Dorum is underground, some cities require a mandatory aboveground military stint. During that time citizens are taken through training, and preform duties much like a city watch or a ranger. Some choose to remain aboveground after their time is up, hunting the beasts in the dark for the rest of their lives.

However, more traditional routes of adventuring are also available to the foreign adventurer. Scouting parties are also needed, as well as able bodies to fight against the fey.  Because of this, there is an adventurer's guild in Anvilheim!
